How should we like it were stars to burn With a passion for us we could not return? If equal afecton cannot be, Let the more loving one be me. Admirer as I think I am Of stars that do not give a damn, I can not, now I see them, say I missed one terribly all day. Were all stars to disappear or die I should learn to look at an empty sky And feel its total dark sublime, Though this might take me a litle tme. 詞彙詳解 1.equal[ˈiːkwəl]adj. Women demand equal pay for equal work. 最常用法 be equal to 等於 equal in 在…… He was an admirer of her grandfather’s paintngs. I learned this news from the newspaper. 最常用法 learn to do sth.學做某事 learn about 獲得,學得 learn from 向…… 獲得 learn……by heart 記住…… learn the truth 瞭解真相 聯想記憶 learned adj. Love What You Do, Do What You Love Life is short. Are you doing what you love? Are you living your passion? If not, why?I am guessing most people will answer that queston with“I have three kids to support.”In the real world people have responsibilites. They have to make sacrifces. You aren't supposed to be happy with your job but you do it because you have to.” With all due respect, they are wrong. You can take care of your responsibilites and be happy with your job.We spend over 1/3 of our day, at least fve days a week performing our jobs. This is a lot of tme to be wastng on something we don't enjoy, is it not?Why not spend that tme doing something you truly are passionate about for 50 hours a week instead of something that lacks meaning? I think there is one main reason people don't follow their passion:fear. Fear of how others will react, fear of failure, and fear that they can't do it themselves.I think the frst part is for people to realize that they can conquer their fear. You will fail at tmes and others will think you are crazy at tmes, but if you believe that you will succeed than you fnally will. I understand that it is not easy. I am in the middle of going through it right now.But understand that there are other people out there who have been through what you are going through and can help you immensely. They have failed, been ridiculed, and come out on the other end extremely successful. They are living proof that you can do what you love. His love for science will never die. 最常用法 fall in love(with)愛上 聯想記憶 lovely adj. 憎恨;厭惡 2.main[meɪn]adj. The teacher asked me to note down the main points of the speech. He never fails to write to his mother every week. 最常用法 fail to do sth.未能做某事 fail in sth./doing sth. 成功 4.right[raɪt]adj. She is the right girl for me;I need no one else. 最常用法 all right 好;行 right now 立即 on the right 在右邊 聯想記憶 correct adj. Do you like surprises? Sure, there are‘bad'surprises, like a sudden quiz given by your teacher or an unexpected bill. Those are no fun. But there are also nice surprises. Have you ever had a surprise party?Didn't it feel great to be surprised by all your friends and family?Especially when you thought they'd forgoten your birthday. Have you ever given someone a gift, and that person wasn't expectng it at all? What kind of look did that person have on his face?It probably looked like complete happiness. How about a surprise phone call? Right out of the blue…… Those are the best surprises. Have you ever called someone for no particular reason—just because you wanted to hear that person's voice or because you wanted to recall old tmes?Or because you wanted to say“Hi”. Those are some of the surprises that I like the most. A surprise like a party or a gif or a phone call that is unexpected somehow feels beter than you were expectng. I wonder why that is. I try to surprise my family sometmes. I bring my wife flowers or give something to my children. You should see the looks on their faces. And that makes me happy, too. You should surprise people. You'll probably make their day, and it might make your day, too. The sudden arrival of guests forced her to change her plans. 最常用法 all of a sudden 突然地 聯想記憶 suddenly adv.突然地 2.particular[pərˈtɪkjələr]adj. I have nothing partcular to do this evening. 最常用法 a particular customer 挑剔的顧客 be particular about 對…… The workers want a voice in management decisions. 最常用法 raise one’s voice 提高某人的說話聲調 give voice to 表示…… in a low voice 低聲地 in a quiet voice 平靜地(說) with one voice 異口同聲地,一致地 聯想記憶 sound n. He turned on the torch to look for his keys. 最常用法 have a look 看一看 look after 照料;看管;目送;關注;找,尋求 look at 看,注視 look for 尋找;尋求;期待 look out 注意,留神 聯想記憶 see v. As you get older, it feels like tme tends to move faster. We tend to fall into familiar routnes as we age and that makes tme move quickly. We perceive time as something like a stack of memories, so the less new experiences you have, the less likely you are to fill in those memories with interestng things. Time does go by(or, more accurately, it feels as if tme is going by)more quickly, the older we get. In the frst few years of our lives, anything we sense or do is new, and many of our experiences are unique, so they remain frmly in our memories. But as the years go by, we encounter fewer and fewer new experiences—both because we have already accomplished a lot and because we become slaves to our daily routnes. What can we do about this?Maybe we need some new app that will encourage us to try out new experiences, point out things we've never done, recommend dishes we've never tasted and suggest places we've never been. This could make our lives more varied, drive us to try new things, slow down the lesson of tme and increase our happiness. Untl such arrives, try to do at least one new thing every week. It's not too difcult to push yourself to do new things. Her success encouraged me to try the same thing. 最常用法 encourage sb.(to do sth.)
