並不容易但可以看很多次的一本書。情緒表現相當細膩，能讓人愉快地揣摩每一句描寫 。多處伏筆與隱喻，每一次讀都能獲得另一種理解。主人公提起很多次“inside but outside”更是對這本書敘述角度的完美詮釋：看似可有可無卻的一個人，但缺了他就無法將這荒唐的故事開展，繼續，聯繫。致敬作者。
敘述者用時間和空間維度，細膩柔軟的講述着那個年代的人與事。看似雲淡風輕，內心深處卻是無比的壓抑。
The first 50 pages of the book was so horrendously slow going that it seemed aimless. I kept feeling like I was being pulled from one random scene to another without a single clue what it was that Fitzgerald tried to show me. I nearly abandoned it halfway. The story did start rolling from there and I was finally in the familiar rhythms of a fiction again - fast rolling, enchanting and hard to put down. The author certainly has a way with words; the language was beautiful. And he is a sharp observer of humanity. I liked Gatsby and it was a sad sad story. Fitzgerald writes poetically but not so sure about his story-telling skill.
