Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped is a classic adventure novel that takes readers on a thrilling journey through 18th-century Scotland. First published in 1886, the story follows the young protagonist, David Balfour, who is kidnapped by his own uncle, Ebenezer Balfour, in a plot to steal his inheritance. The novel is set against the backdrop of the historical tensions between the Jacobite Highlanders and the Whig Lowlanders. The plot thickens when David meets Alan Breck Stewart, a Jacobite agent, aboard the ship Covenant. Together, they form an unlikely alliance, fighting against treachery and injustice. The novel explores themes of loyalty, courage, and the duality of human nature. Stevenson's vivid descriptions of the Scottish landscape and his portrayal of complex characters make Kidnapped a timeless tale of adventure and self-discovery.
