I've always been a lover of Agatha's detective novels. But invfact, this is the first time for me to read the original one. I used to read in translated versions, which are indeed intriguing and full of brain-burning plots, holding my attention, making me almost lost myself every time when turning the pages. This time, the source text reading has really provided me with a totally extraordinary and marvelous experience. As my eyes moved through the lines, I could feel what the author wants to convey to us in depth and delve into the interior psychological world of rach character. In addition, some new phrases and difficult sentences, though causing a great deal of barriers to my understanding helped to improve my comprehension ability to a next level. Sadly, due to my limited spare time, I failed to analyse the story line in a detailed way, but roughly acquired the general idea. It's worth mentioning that what makes me feel most amazed is the intermittent quarrel between Poirot and Hastings. They are really a perfect match that pushes the development of the whole story. Later on, I'm going to read more about Agatha's works!

Bravo!

"The Styles Case" is a classic by Agatha Christie. My first encounter with this story was through the TV adaptation, which captivated me from the start. In fact, I've watched the TV version twice over the past seven years. But so much time has passed that I'd completely forgotten the plot. When I opened the book this time, I was immediately drawn in by Agatha's delicate and suspenseful writing. As I read, I tried several times to guess the identity of the murderer, but Agatha skillfully threw me off track. Through carefully planted clues and character dialogues, she made every character seem suspicious, yet each also appeared to have a plausible explanation. This layering of suspense kept me fully engaged until the very end, when everything finally clicked into place. The characters in the book are vividly drawn. Hastings, Poirot's good-natured friend, adds a touch of lightness to the story with his kindness, simplicity, and endearing naivety. He often responds to Poirot with a bewildered air. When Poirot asks, with, "Don't you find that suspicious?" Hastings replies, "I don't see anything suspicious about it." When pressed with "Ah, this is curious." he answers,"I must confess that I see nothing particularly curious about it." Yet, there are moments when he confidently believes his guesses are better than Poirot's, which is both amusing and charming. His blind optimism is infectious, and his loyalty to friends and compassion for others make him a truly warm character. Poirot, the brilliant detective with his "little grey cells," is unforgettable. His distinctive appearance—short stature, meticulous dress, and well-groomed mustache—complements his keen observational skills and meticulous reasoning. He has become one of my favorite detective characters. Poirot is not just an exceptional detective; he is also deeply humane. In "The Styles Case," he chose to reveal the truth in a different way to protect a woman's happiness. He could have easily saved John Cavendish from prosecution, but he decided to in favor of "a woman's happiness." As he says, "The happiness of one man and one woman is the greatest thing in all the world." This quote perfectly captures Poirot's philosophy. He is not only a seeker of truth but also someone who values and protects the happiness of others.

All’s well that ends well!

that's a brilliant story which deserves binge reading, more fascinating than previous one i read of this series, the plot of the contention throughout the trial is quite impressive, but here's a bug i detect, the dealer of the drug shop can't even tell the fake John disguised by Miss Howard?she talks with him while purchasing the poison!even if she can simulate the appearance but how she mimics the exact voice without being perceived?which doesn't make sense...

★★★★★

The plot of this book is decent, haha. Since I'm a mystery enthusiast with good deductive skills, I enjoy reading books with elements of blood, violence, horror, suspense, and mystery. However, as is well known, Agatha Christie's mystery novels tend to have a relatively low level of deductive intensity, but overall, they are still quite good
