Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blindingdust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. I was better after I had cried than before.

Darnay。 【Many have felt that Carton and Darnay are doppelgängers, which Eric Rabkin defines as a pair "of characters that together, represent one psychological persona in the narrative".[35] If so, they would prefigure such works as Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Darnay is worthy and respectable but dull (at least to most modern readers), Carton disreputable but magnetic.[citation needed] One can only suspect whose psychological persona it is that Carton and Darnay together embody (if they do), but it is often thought to be the psyche of Dickens. He might have been quite aware that between them, Carton and Darnay shared his own initials, a frequent property of his characters.[36] However, he denied it when asked.】

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way

Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, or Death. When I have been to the western country, I have known their main value of society is “liberty, equality and fraternity”. But in this book after that there was one more word “death “ and this word was the most important topic of the whole story. It was because of the background of this book was about “The French Revolution”. During the process of development of any society, there will inevitably be various problems. People often solve them through reform. When the power of reform is weak, people will resort to revolution. The revolution is not an invitation to dinner, but will inevitably be accompanied by bloodshed and sacrifice. But human nature is greedy, especially when filled with hatred and anger, it is easier to show the ugliest side of human nature. While retaliating against the original vested interests, the revolutionaries will bring their personal greed into it if they are not paying attention, and soon forget the original intention of the revolution. The mouthful of "freedom and equality" is the act of robbery, which distorts not only revolution, but also human nature. In A Tale of Two Cities, the poor people achieved phased results after launching the revolution. But the Bastille was broken, but Paris fell, and the original evil and greedy ruling class was replaced by a group of more sinful and greedy mobs. They set up their own court and sentenced those former jackals, but they forgot to look in the mirror, and they had already become insects. The original aristocracy is gone, but poverty is still there; the original bandits are gone, but the robbery is still there; the original hypocritical fairness has disappeared, but justice is still sinking. With the expansion of the Revolution, more and more innocent people have lost their status, wealth and even their lives. There are countless similar examples, such as the Cultural Revolution. Ten years of catastrophe made the people understand that the revolution was a beautiful snake. She tempted those who were hungry and thirsty. After biting people, she smiled and saw how shameless and ugly it was to see how human nature was eroded by snake venom. Once bitten by a snake, ten years of being afraid of well rope; ten years of being bitten by a snake, a hundred years of no trust. After the Cultural Revolution, the Chinese people not only lost their faith, but also lost the most basic trust between the society. As for the revolution 13 years after the Cultural Revolution, bloodshed and sacrifice were not awakened, but more silence. Today, the anti-Japanese parade smashes cars that with the brand of Japan but the owner was Chinese, and burns compatriots' shops. In the name of the parade, they wantonly destroy and plunder the fruits of other people's labor. What's the difference from the invaders of that year? Revolution is so fragile that it is easy to be manipulated by evil. But how can we avoid deviating from the predetermined goal as much as possible?
