I love, love, love this book! I first read it in high school many years ago, and the story became a bit blurry over time. But I never forgot Anne—she’s always been my favorite Austen girl. Now, reading it in the original language feels like a “what if life were as it was at first sight” moment. I’ve rediscovered why I am so dearly fond of Anne. Though persuaded by her respected elders when she was young, she always knew what truly drew her. Her gentle and quiet nature makes it inevitable that she would fall in love with someone like Wentworth—spirited, passionate, and decisive. And when she realized she had another chance—however slim—she responded with fervor and determination. Anne is elegant, sweet, and reserved, but never overly coy or pretentious. She radiates the brilliance of feminism. She has a serene strength that carries her through. Once her feelings are certain, she is brave enough to rise above the noise. Time has given her wisdom, and with it, she has grown. Luckily, her lover did not falter—his love for her remained unwavering. Because she was, and always would be, worthy of it. P.S.
