大地（《大地三部曲》之一，英文版）

《The Good Earth》 by Pearl S. Buck is a story about Wang Lung, a poor farmer in China. After reading this book, I had many thoughts about life, family, money, and land. The thing I remember most is Wang Lung’s love for the land. When he is poor, land gives him food and hope. He believes that if he has land, he can have a better life. So, he works very hard to buy more land. But after he becomes rich, his life changes. He starts to want more money and more things. He also changes as a person. This made me think about “how money can change people”。 O-Lan is another character who impressed me. She is quiet and very hardworking. She works for her family all her life. She suffers a lot, but she does not complain much. I feel sorry for her because she gives so much to her family, but she does not get enough love or respect. I also think the title “The Good Earth” is very meaningful. The land is always there. It gives people food and helps them survive. People are born, grow old, and die, but the land stays. It sees both good times and bad times. This book also made me think about happiness. Wang Lung thinks that having more land and money will make him happy. But when he becomes rich, he still wants more. I think this shows that “having more does not always mean being happier”. After reading this book, I feel more thankful for my life today. Life is not always easy, but we have many things that people in the past did not have. For me, the main message of this book is simple , We can work hard to have a better life, but we should not forget the people and things that are truly important to us.
